What are good sites for staying updated on the music scene?

What are some good sites that have info on new bands,songs,albums and general news in all genres?

This is the site most stores stay tuned to or subscribed to to keep caught up with what is hot or not.

This doesn't answer your question, but i bet you're interested.

If you've got a mac, get Fstream on your computer.

If you've got a PC, get a program called Screamer Radio.

Both of these are amazing. They're internet streamers that give you a huge insight into music for every genre you can think of.

Pure volume is amazingg.

And LastFm is great because you can type in bands that you like and it will play bands similar to that band for you. :]

One of the best is www.kexp.org. It's listener supported radio out of Seattle. They play all kinds of music and they have all sorts of archived live performances.

Also check out the podcasts "NPR: Live Concerts from All Songs Considered" and "NPR: All Songs Considered." They have some really great performances for free download on iTunes and they have some good artists that can be not as well known as corporate radio.

You can get a great mix of stuff on wnyu.org as well. It's the college radio station out of NYU in NYC.

And, always check out http://www.ubl.com/ and http://www.artistdirect.com/. You can search for bands you like, and those sites will usually give you a list of bands you might like that you may have never heard of. UBL.com is for unsigned bands and artistdirect.com is for bands that have a label.

One last thing... look to the bands you like and figure out what label they are on. If it's a smaller one, you can go and check out the list of artists on their roster and you may find some cool new stuff.
