  1. I have a Logitech x-540. (bought from amazon for around 50bucks on sale). They work well for me. For $200 you can get a way better system though.

  2. STAY AWAY FROM BOSE!!!!

I install home theater systems, and Bose is by far the worst I have come across.  Stick with a company like Jamo or Klipsch.  They are very good quality, and have affordable models.

  3. Get a set of used Klipsch Quintet speakers on eBay. You get right and left front and rear, plus a center channel for around $200. You'll love them, especially if you eventually get a subwoofer.

And, for the guy who said Bose: Bose is over-priced and I think they sound terrible (muddy bass, missing midrange, and hissy treble). I bought a $600 set of Bose Accoustimass speakers that sounded so bad I gave them away to my stepson. I replaced the system with some used Klipsch Quintets and SW-12 powered subwoofer for about $500. Klipsch absolutely rocks.

  4. No highs, no lows, must be Bose.

    Bose:  Better sound through marketing.

  5. Good speaker price $100-$200.

  6. Get the most expensive set of Logitech speakers you can afford.  The Z-5500's are the best but out of your price range.  Maybe you can pick up a used set on eBay?

    STAY AWAY FROM BOSE!

  7. BOSE

  8. Personal preference, everyone hears differently. Best to spend some time and find what you like, not what everyone else says.

    I prefer Polk myself.

  9. For that price, Logitech X-540 will be the best bang for your buck. But to get the greatest surround sound, you should buy Bose.
