I have a tennis tournament in 2 weeks and need some excercise for tennis. I really want a powerful forehand ( well of course backhand and serve too). What are some things I can do to make my tennis game better? (I run at least 2-3 times a week and bench too. I'm a girl and I'd say I'm advanced beginner.)

  1. play more unofficial matches with men.

  2. do suicides! (not killing urself, the drill)

  3. Tie one of your shoes to your racket and swing.

  4. Just play much much more. Tennis is a sport where you don't need rippling muscles to have stronger shots.

Strength in your shots will come from proper mechanics. Get a hopper of balls and a friend, have her feed you a couple hoppers of ground strokes and switch. Once your contact is better the strokes will have much more pace on them.

Of course though you need to be fit. Distance running is fine but you need to focus on more sprinting. Only doing distance running can slow your feet down in a sport which relies so heavily on sprinting. So do some court sprints, side to sides, etc.
