I have an 8 year-old daughter that will be going into 1st grade next year. She received a cochlear implant when she was 3 years old. She is very smart and at her 8 year-old level developmentally and understanding, however, her communication level is slightly behind, although she is catching up and closing the gap. I want to find activities, camps, sports, arts, etc. that will give her activities with other children and continue to get her ready for her next school year and increase her verbal skills and close the gap. She is very outgoing and friendly.

  2. Day camp, soccer, Brownie Scouts next fall. I don't think with the Brownies you'd want her with her grade level I think she'd do ok in Brownies. Go get her a library card and read to her. Let her pick out the books. Get simple books to encourage her to read too.
