  1. You always need to be eating a lot of carbohydrates. :] Before, during, and RIGHT after you swim. Before a swim meet/practice you can eat 4 hours before- have a turkey sandwich, apple, oatmeal cookie, low-fat milk, or water. One hour before your meet/practice limit to something small like G2 Gatorade or an apple. You should eat at least an hour before prat ice so you won't get cramps. During prat ice, you need to have a sports drink, or water, and really drink it. It'll help fuel your body- just don't drink a lot at one time. IMMEDIATELY after a practice or meet- you need to eat carbohydrate-rich foods, and beverages to fuel your body back. You can have fruit, cereal, water, sports drink, plain bagel, etc. Good luck!

Here's some good food for swimmers-

    Water

    Sugar-free Orange juice

    FRESH fruit

    Low-fat yogurt

    Pancake mix

    2% or skim milk

    Plain English Muffin

    Eggs

    Whole-wheat bread

    Carrots

    Celery

    Baked potato

    Oatmeal

    Whole Wheat Rice

    Whole Wheat Pasta

    Whole Wheat Spaghetti

    Bananas

    Protien Bars

    Unsalted nuts

    Protein shakes

    B vitamins

    Endurox

Also, no fast food- ever. If you HAVE to have it- get a salad or grilled chicken sandwich. No soda, candy, junk food, ect.

And try to only drink water, sports drinks, 100% juice,  ice tea[sometimes] or sometimes lemonade[depends on how much sugar].

    Again- good luck!!

  2. before fridays session (400 IM and mile) of a meet i normally eat at about 4 hours before i swim and i can eat ANYTHING and it wont come back up.  i have acid reflex so i dont eat or drink much during the meet.  when i do eat, i eat powerbars. they sit well in your stomach.

DO NOT drink energy drinks. thats one of the stupidest things you can do at swim meets. I use a powder stuff called spark by advocare. you will have to find a rep that sells it or you can probably find it online.  i mix it with propel.  just take sips every so often.  it also suppresses appitite, witch is good for me becasue i have acid reflex and cant eat during meeets. be sure to eat even though your not hungry!!!

  3. Pasta! Fruit! Water/Gatorade!

Anytime before swimming, but especially before a meet!

  4. Well for wrestling meets I usually bring A shitload of water and bagels with cream cheese. Sometimes peanutbutter and bread. Anything that wouldn't upset your stomache. Gatorade to rehydrate after cutting waterweight, but I guess it doesn't apply to swimming. Gatorade has a ton of sugar though. Fruit might be good as well, but maybe not citrus.

  5. fruits and good/healthy stuff

    energy stuff

(not like drinks or anything but good energy foods)

im not a swimmer so i'm not really sure..
