  1. what are you looking to modify.....the classroom itself, the curriculum....or your teaching style?

in all reality you will not need to modify anything if you are a good teacher and have an established routine in place.  children who have down syndrome are really no different than 'typical' kids in many respects. they thrive on routine, they love to "help" they need a teacher who is patient and understanding but at the same time firm. they need to know their boundaries of what is acceptable and what is not and have consequences that are appropriate for their developmental level (not their age). there also needs to be an open communication between the teacher and the parents. kids with DS often have continuing therapy, so there might be times  when therapists will come into the classroom....can you accommodate them?  if you have an particular questions please feel to email me....
