  1. That is a good site. It also depends what type of pet and where you live. I volunteer with the blue ridge boxer rescue of NC, SC and VA. We save and adopt out boxers. We have our website linked to petfinder with our available dogs. Try googling the breed rescue you are looking for in your area, for example, "boxer rescue, north carolina"  Most rescues, like ours, taken in strays, dogs at shelters etc, then we train and take care of them and any health problems. The best part about adopting from a rescue vs a shelter is that the foster family can give you a wealth of info about the pet, like if its good with kids, cats, its personality etc. Good luck!  We are at www.blueridgeboxerrescue.com

  2. The BEST is:

    www.petfinder.com
