I'm not much of a romance novel reader, but really enjoyed Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights by the Bronte sisters. They are gothic romance novels, with some eerie suspense.

Loved Walked In by Marisa de los Santos

It's a wonderful love story that's about to be made into a movie with Sarah Jessica Parker as the lead. I heard talks of Dakota Fanning being in it too...which would be great!

Pride and Prejudice. The story was set in 18th century. It's an awesome book which narrates Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy's personality, etc.
