  1. Well Acid rain is very harmful lets begin with forest.

Forest: It is thought that acid rain can cause trees to grow more slowly or even to die but scientists have found that it is not the only cause. The same amount of acid rain seems to have more effect in some areas than it does in others.

Lakes and Rivers:As the acidity of a lake increases, the water becomes clearer and the numbers of fish and other water animals decline. Some species of plant and animal are better able to survive in acidic water than others. Freshwater shrimps, snails, mussels are the most quickly affected by acidification followed by fish such as minnows, salmon and roach.

    Buildings:

The worst affected are things made from limestone or sandstone as these types of rock are particularly susceptible and can be affected by air pollution in gaseous form as well as by acid rain.

    That will do it ithink.

  2. The more accurate term is "acid precipitation".  High acidic components can occur not only in rain, but snow, fog, dew, etc.

It's not well known, but acid precipitation can kill an entire lake's ecosystem.  There are a number of "dead" lakes in the northern states of the U.S. and in Canada as well that are this way because of acid precipitation.

Each year we learn more about just how damaging this event is -- not only to the environment, but homes, historic buildings, and numerous aspects of our infrastructure.

It isn't directly responsible for killing forests like initially thought, but acid precipitation is incredibly damaging to trees.  What it does is reduce a tree's ability to fend off insects, produce productive growth and will actually increase the chance of unneeded forest fires.

Acid precipitation isn't tied to CO2 production (which is causing global warming), but rather heavy amounts of particle pollution coming from chimneys and smokestacks.  The matter coming from these is mostly ash and drives up the Ph content of the moisture in the air.

  3. Years ago when Mount St Helen erupted in Washington State I was living in New York State. The clouds of ash drifted with the winds over NY State and produce an Acid Rain that sell in the Adirondacks.

The trees were bare and lifeless from the top down. The only green leafed area on most trees were from 10 to 15 feet above the ground, The tops were dead. Many trees succumbed to the poisons.

Now I don't know about you, but in my way of thinking it can't he very healthy if it killed hundreds of years worth of tree growth!

  4. One of the main effects are weathering to stone (limestone statues for example).

  5. 1. corrosion metallic structures suxh as railway lines.

    2. damage to historical monuments of marble or limestone,   such as taj mahal.

    3. infertility of soil.

    4. damage to leaves of plants, trees and crops.

  6. Acid rain damages the crops and makes the soil less fertile.Acid rain contaminates the water bodies and harms the aquatic animals. It damages buildings and statues, specially made of marble.the acid rain reacts with marble (Calcium Carbonate) and destroys it.

Sulphuric acid (from acid rain) + Calcium Carbonate (Marble) - Calcium Sulphate + Carbondioxide + Water

  7. Acid rain is one of the most dangerous and widespread forms of pollution. While the long-term effects of acid rain are still being studied, it is well documented that effects include harm to freshwater ecosystems and widespread decline in forest health.

Acid rain does not usually kill trees directly. Instead, it is more likely to weaken the trees by damaging their leaves, limiting the nutrients available to them, or poisoning them with toxic substances slowly released from the soil.

Acidic water also ruins plant nutrients, hurting plants' ability to survive and to give life to other organisms.

Acid rain affects us as well in many different ways. One major way is our health. Breathing and lung problems in children and adults who have asthma and in children have been linked to acid air pollution. Everything that we eat, drink, and breathe has at one time come in contact with acid deposits. This could threaten our health by making us become sick.

Every type of material will become eroded sooner or later by the effects of the climate. Water, wind, ice and snow all help in the erosion process but unfortunately, acid rain can help to make this natural process even quicker. Statues, buildings, vehicles, pipes and cables can all suffer. The worst affected are things made from limestone or sandstone as these types of rock are particularly susceptible and can be affected by air pollution in gaseous form as well as by acid rain.

  8. it a dangerous thing.it can destroy crops, plants and also  sometimes kills animals.

  9. i will mow the lawn alot less thats great. clean the roof real good no doin that.

  10. The che mical nature of acid rain is sulphur dioxide & nitrogen oxide.

It damages vegetations, corrodes buildings espacially made up of marbel, extensive harm to water resourses and marien life.

  11. it can cause the skin infection.

  12. Harmful effects  of Acid rain -------

    1.damage to monuments

2.Skin cancer to animals including humans

    3.damage trees

4.pollute water by increasing its acidity

  13. i dont really know about harmfull effects on humans, but is weathers buildings e.g. sandstone

  14. TREES' LEAVES GET  WASHED AWAY

IF THIS RAIN FALLS ON A PERSON THEN HE GET SOME WHITE  PATCHES ON HIS SKIN..........
