  1. Actually, there's a modern misconception about hazel eyes.  True hazel eyes are golden brown and/or reddish brown in color.  They are never greenish brown.  This has been known for centuries but during the last hundred years or so, people started misusing the term "hazel".  True hazel eyes DO appear to shift in color from deep brown to a light gold, amber or honey color, depending upon the lighting.  This is from intense golden and/or reddish specks  and/or golden or reddish rings around the pupil.
