  1. Depends on your coach.

They should have you play a scrimmage to see who can do what...then break you up into groups to see if you can pass, serve, and hit.  I was a setter and outside hitter so we played a 6-2, The coaches knew me from JHS so I just really had to show up and play. But for guys or gals come in and play your best. Work on your veritcal. Pass reception and hitting.

    good luck

  2. SLEEP dont try 2 hit alot of the balls... dont hit high

  3. As the others mentioned, tryouts vary depending on the coach.  No matter who it is, though, they will find a way to evaluate you on your passing, setting, serving, hitting (spiking), blocking, and defense.  They will also probably look at you in game-like situations to see how well you perform the skills when they aren't isolated.

Also, focus on bringing a positive attitude and hustle.  Coaches really look for "coachability," that is, how well do you listen and try to do the things they tell you to do?  If they think you can be taught, they will probably take you and try to teach you.  If they think you won't listen to them, they won't bother bringing you on the team.

Work hard, have fun, and smile a lot!  We coaches would usually rather take a player with some skill and a great attitude than good skills and a bad attitude.

  4. This is basically what most high schools do.

    1. They call you up usually in different groups.

    2. They ask you to do a bump, set, spike, save, dig and serve.

    3. Then they determine who is on the team by their form, ability and potential.

    GOOD LUCK!!! ;)

  5. well you can never prepare enough for tryouts no matter what sport. Also every coach has their own way of tryouts. just work out, go running, lift weights, and the best thing i think for a volleyball player is doing leg exercises you need the strong legs for jumping and such. Running a mile might be part of the tryouts a good time would be great and reflect good on you. practice a lot and at tryouts make sure you work as hard as you can no matter how tired you are this will show the coaches you are willing to work and that even if your not at the same skill level as the other girls they will probably keep you on the team because they know you will try hard and that you will also improve with your efforts.

  6. dude they are going to be really hard so you better rest up and be ready

  7. At my school they broke us up into groups of two and we just praticed hitting back and forth. Then they set up teams and they saw  how we we served... spiked... etc. The coach just evaluates your skills, how well you listen, and your potential. Treat the other girls you're playing with, with respect and be a team player. You'll do great!

  8. Good Luck!

The coaches do tend to be alittle strict, so rest up, eat a good breakfast, and stay alert!

The first thing you want to do is show your coach that you are alert and ready for anything. At my high school, my coach would toss the ball at me. I had to hit it over the net. Next is your serving. Just make sure you hit the ball over the net. The very last thing you want your coaches to know is flinching/missing the tosses. Don't cringe or shrink away like girly girls do when a ball is coming to you, don't be scared!

Once again, Good luck! Hope you'll make it!
