  1. Highs and lows? Do you mean temperature or pressure?

    I suppose you mean pressure.

High Pressure Systems: Also known as anticyclones. These systems feature upper air convergence, a sinking mechanism, and surface divergence. The sinking mechanism prevents the formation of clouds and precipitation. Therefore, you can expect to see clear skies or mostly clear skies. If there are clear skies all day and night, then there will probably be a wider range in temperature (difference between high and low).

Low Pressure Systems: Also known as cyclones. These systems feature upper air divergence, a rising mechanism, and surface convergence. The rising mechanism allows for the development of clouds and precipitation. Therefore, you can expect the skies to be overcast. Well developed cyclones have steep pressure gradient, which causes windy conditions. If there are cloudy skies all day and night, then the temperature range would be smaller.

If you mean temperature, then here I go again with another description.

The high means the highest temperature of the day. The low means the lowest temperature of the day. Depending on what the highest and lowest temperature is, it could mean anything. In some cases, you can have fog, dew, frost, and the list goes on.
