  1. It is kind of hard to describe said group of people in one go..

    but I will try.

protected. unorthodox. sheltered. afraid of the real world.

    but also..

some are intelligent, outgoing, funny, a bit socially awkward, but..none the less cool to hang around with.

  2. You might as well ask, "What are people best described as?"

I know many homeschoolers and there's not one way I could describe them to incorporate ALL of them. They are not a homogeneous group by any means.

  3. Free

  4. S T U D E N T S !

    :-)

  5. lucky ;)

  6. Well are you describing homeschool families/parents or students in that question?

I have found that the majority of homeschool families are close knit and organized. You have to be organized to get Johnny to his Boy Scout meeting and make sure little Susie has time for her ballet practice and don't forget you have that fun park event this Friday!

Homeschool parents I would describe as family focused. They are the ones who are willing to make the most sacrifices to ensure their family has what it needs to work and grow.

Homeschool students I would say are more focused on their goals. They are also more self-disciplined and usually the ones with the best behavior.

  7. Living in freedom to learn

  8. Homeschoolers are a diverse group, but I think some of the common threads are independent, courageous, self determined, freedom-loving,  free thinking and commited to their personal values, whatever they may be.

  9. family oriented

not as social (and a lot of the home schoole kids I know ARE not as social as people at public/private schools)

a bit sheltered (its true because at public school you've got all different kinds of people and you have to deal with them)

Some are very nice, a lot nicer than some people at my school

sometimes they can be a bit socially naive

as intelligent as those in regular schools, sometimes more sometimes less

    close to their parents

    timid

  10. My daughter is now in a brick and mortar school for the very first time at the ripe old age of 12.   She is referred to as "that smart homeschool kid".

  11. Independent, intelligent, outside the mainstream.

Free to make choices, free to live life, free to learn what they want.

    Happy, content, and self-determinate.

  12. Fun-loving, family oriented people who don't believe in assembly line education.

  13. Unafraid to step out of the "socially accepted" block!

    Unafraid to be different!

  14. I know some great ones but most seem to be: Religious, family-oriented, afraid of talking to girls (boys), terrified of the real world, nervous in social settings, some are very bright and others are way behind studies wise, awkward but nice, and they tend to judge others quickly based on appearance and the school they go to.

For example my mom's best friends are Home school families so we do things with them a lot but the girls (some of them) my age (17) think I am a public school s***k who has thrown her morals out the window which is not true. I think they are intimidate by us school kids because a lot of them I know really wanted to go to a high school but their parents would not let them.

  15. Family oriented.

    A bit peculiar.

  16. It depends on the person really...just like public schooling.

A lot of people think that home-schooled kids are non-social, nerds, loners, and are afraid of the real world. But thats not all true. I mean yea there are those kind of people but that is the same with public school kids. You are always going to have those people who sit off to themselves and there are those that are out doing fun stuff with a bunch of friends. Just because they are home schooled doesn't mean they are any different than the public school kids.

I'm home schooled and yea I take my grades seriously but thats not my whole life. I play sports, hang out with friends and all of that stuff. I'm the same as I was when I was in public school. :)

  17. Independent learners

    Explores

    independent thinkers

    Doers

    strong willed

    ambitious

    curious

    well educated

  18. Depends on the kid.

Some that I know would be described as smart, witty, and nice to be around.

Some that I know would be described as anti-social and stupid.

Some would be described as book-intelligent and with nonexistent social skills.

There's a whole vast spectrum to describe.
