  1. The term indigenous peoples is used to describe any ethnic group who inhabit the geographic region with which they have the earliest historical connection.

  2. Indigenous people are people whose ancestors originated from the country you are standing in (well, when I say originated, they were at least there for an extremely long time, before colonisation by European countries). In the US, the indigenous people are the Native American Indians. In Australia, the indigenous people are Aborigines.

  3. Groups of people that travel lands so that they never 'set home' in one place. The indians are a perfect example

  4. It's a false concept geared toward the supposition that the indigenous people of a given geographical region are those who *originated* in said given geographical region.

Since all humans descend from those prototypical types who originated in just one (unknown) geographical region then spread out from there over a long period of time there are technically no such thing as indigenous people. For example, if humanity first evolved in Africa (as is sometimes suggested) then as a species we are all indigenous to Africa. Even those who have never been there. This is why the whole concept of indigenous people is so laughable.

It is truer to say that each and every one of us is indigenous to the place in which we were born.

However, that concept doesn't appeal too much to racists; a great many of them love the idea of indigenous races more than indigenous individuals because they think it is a way of furthering their sad and empty causes. For example, quite a few unintelligent Little Englanders would have you believe that white people are indigenous to the UK. By clinging to that ridiculous theory like **** to a nappy they then go on to declare that whites should have some kind of special priority in the UK. Or, conversely, that all us darkies should be "sent back where we came from".

Never mind a lot of us were born and bred in the UK and this IS where we come from. Your common or garden idiot racist doesn't have the IQ to handle such "complicated" facts LOL

Check the skin colour of my avatar - Not too white, is it?

But I was born and bred in England, remain loyal to England first last and all places in between, and if ever I get "sent back where I come from" it will be to the city of London, where I was born and to which I am indigenous.

    So:

    Indigenous people = False concept.

    Indigenous individual = True concept.

  5. not sure

  6. native people

  7. An ethnic group true to one place e.g. aboriginals.

  8. i think it means like people who belong to a certain area. example, an indigenous firm is a firm who is home grown

  9. people who are native to a particular place

indigenous can also be used to refer to plants and animals

  10. The term indigenous peoples or autochthonous peoples can be used to describe any ethnic group who inhabit the geographic region with which they have the earliest historical connection
