  1. Infrared rays are part of the electromagnetic spectrum that is lower in energy than the light you can see. They are basically electric and magnetic disturbances in the electromagnetic field that exists everywhere. You can't see infrared, but you can feel the rays when they hit your skin as warmth, especially from the sun. They are related to radio waves, and can be used to transmit information. Your TV remote control communicates with your TV by low-intensity infrared.

  2. IR rays are a range of wave lengths longer than visible light with a lower frequency in the electromagnetic spectrum.  Heat is also a type of IR ray

  3. Infrared (IR) radiation is electromagnetic radiation whose wavelength is longer than that of visible light, but shorter than that of terahertz radiation and microwaves. The name means "below red" (from the Latin infra, "below"), red being the color of visible light with the longest wavelength. Infrared radiation has wavelengths between about 750 nm and 1 mm.

Infrared light lies between the visible and microwave portions of the electromagnetic spectrum. That's it a kind of electromagnetic radiation.
