How you communicate one on one or in small groups > your ability to present your thoughts & opinions to others that will cause them to be receptive to your message.

This could cover things like your body language, facial expressions, & how you present the message.  Are you open to comments & suggestions?  Do you solicit other opinions?  Do you have the ability to compromise?  Can you be tactful?

a class at my college... we covered ways people communicate and how to do it effectively.  It was a complete waste of time.

The ability to speak and make yourself understood -- not by arguing, but by logic, objectivity, and good language skills.

The ability to listen and try to understand what you hear -- not blind acceptance, but by getting into the other guy's head and figuring out where the he's coming from.
