  1. An isobar is a line of equivalent atmospheric pressure found on any kind of a weather map or chart.


  2. Isobars are lines of constant/same pressure.

  3. iso = same

    bar = pressure

    They are lines along a meteorological map that indicate a constant air pressure.  Like height lines on a topographical map of a hill.  So, if air pressure decreases across a surface, there will be isobars along that surface indicating that at different points, the pressure is going down or up.
