I have championships this morning and i haven't swam too well lately :(

I really want to get a good time or a best time (would be great but probably not going to happen)

What are some things I can do to go faster?

What should I eat, what stretches, etc...

It would be great if you could put everything you knew!

Thanks!

P.S. I am not a really competitive swimmer, I am in a rec league lol.

  1. It may be too late for me to reply but i'm going to anyway for future reference.

Since you aren't a really competitive swimmer somethings i might say may not help. But you can buy a Speedo Fastskin. They normally retail for $200 but if you wear them only to youre big meets then it will last quite a while. Shaving always helps believe it or not. Lots of carbs. I always listen to relaxing music throughout the day to help me relax but them right before i get ready for warm up i put on something that will really make me pumped and feeling competitive. you can always start warm ups early before everyone else. just make sure not tire yourself out. and believe it or not about an hour before i swim i drink a green Monster energy drink. lol. sounds maybe a lil corny. but i get pretty darn good times.

    hope it helped :)

  2. eat lots of carbs. i ALWAYS eat pasta before a meet. its supposed to make you go faster. stay away from sugar the day before and hours before your race. its best to eat sugar about 10-15 minutes before you swim, to give you energy and make sure you dont crash during the race.

when you are behind the blocks, stretch out your arms, touch your toes, stuff like that. listening to your favorite up-beat song helps you get pumped up. then, about 3 minuts before you are going to be in the water, take out your headphones, make all adjustments on your cap and goggles, and then get in "the zone." don't talk to anyone, dont run around, just envision your whole entire race and then imagion a realistic time you want to get. then when its your turn to get on the blocks, you are completely focused and ready to go.

    good luck!:)

  3. Basically do what has been mentioned above, but 15 minutes before the race go somewhere by yourself and just relax. Also try to be to the start early so you arent stressed about missing the race
