Manipulative skills are the gross and fine motor abilities (particularly the fine motor) to be able to pick up, handle, and move objects of various sizes with precision.  Students need to be able to manipulate books, paper, pencils, and other objects.  Older students will need to be able to manipulate more complex objects, such as computers and automobiles, to become effectively integrated members of their environment and our society.
