I'm doing this for a project about my family background and stuff but I'm kinda curious about this because my mom told me one time that one of my great grandfathers was French.

  1. Go to dogpile.com and look up natives of Haiti. I believe that Haitians are descendants of da Carib people. They are sorda like da Native Americans here. Also they have a African background because African were "brought" over there to work as slaves. I hope this helps :)

I looked this page up for a short answer.. but wow, the stuff looks so indepth, that you may enjoy it.   You may even find your family somewhere in it.

the overview here does mention both Spanish and French, but certainly there would be persons who were native. The names of the towns is a clear indication of French involvement and settlement.

Something you'll hear out of many genealogists.. we often hated history when in school, but when we started seeing our own family as a real part .. it became much more interestng.

  3. There is a very slim chance that any Haitians would have native blood, as the Spaniards did their best to kill them all.

Yes, Spanish and French ancestry, but also American! Many of the Colonists traded with Haiti (and other Carribean Islands), especially from Massachusetts; further, many of them moved there for one reason or another, so English (through the Colonies).
