What are my chances in court whith this traffic violation?

I got a traffic violation ticket for entering a parking lot and making a U turn to avoid a NO U turn sign on the street. I did not even think it was wrong, I took the wrong turn, I was a bit lost in an unfamiliar area and decided to head back...Is that ticket correct? is it really illegal to avoid the NO U TURN sign by entering a parking lot and returning to the road?. I wonder whether I should contest...

  1. That sounds like a pretyy flimsy charge.  I don't think you have too much to worry about.

  2. OK, what exactly did they charge you with?  In what state did this occur?  Was the parking lot a private lot?

If the lot is private property, and there is no prohibition against turning into the lot, or entering the road from the lot, or turning a specific direction (the direction you turned), then I can't see how they cited you.

  3. what?? i would DEFINITELY  go to court for this one and the judge might laugh at it and throw it out.. i do agree with the cop that answered above me... what would he charge you with???????!! you were just cutting through a parking lot!!!!!

  4. you should plead not guilty to the offence!!! get you lawyer to ask the CPS before the jugde asked you your name ask the CPS to point out the acused in the room they can't do it untill you give you name, date fo birth.

The law is **** mate look up the act they have you in contest with and read it!!!

  5. Do you REALLY think you are the first person to get a ticket for doing that?  The traffic court judge has probably heard that, or a similar excuse, several HUNDRED times...

You are going to pay a fine... and then don't make U Turns in parking garages again.  Since it's going to be a MOVING VIOLATION you will have the points and the higher insurance to deal with, so that should keep it fresh in your mind for a year or two.
