  1. Well, any one on the face of this great planet with the proper tools can become a graphic novelist or animator. Doing these things professionally, or making money off of them to work towards a living, might be difficult for even the best...

With the level of artistic talent that you've displayed in those two images, I think that you have a chance in both areas, but you still need to work on your skills. When being a graphic novelist, what's most important is not necessarily your artistic talent, but your imagination. You have to have interesting stories to tell, and you have to be good at sequential story telling.

There aren't very many jobs in the animation industry, so I guess that any one's chances of working at Disney or Pixar are relatively slim. These days a lot of animation work is exported into other countries due to cost issues. Most of the people I see working in animation now mainly seem to deal in the art of designing characters for others to animate...this is a weird question for me to answer...

Out of the two occupations, I think that becoming a "professional" graphic novelist will be easiest to achieve, but both of these things will require a lot of hard work. A LOT OF IT.

Work on your art, draw from life, and start getting in touch with people who have these careers. I don't know if you're the type of person that goes to anime or comic book conventions...um, but they often have tables there where people representing comic book and manga publishing companies come and look at visitor's portfolio's.

Something you might be interested in checking out is Tokyopop's ROSM contest. Blender is a free-to-download, 3-D graphics program that you might want to learn because a lot of animation is done in 3-D now...GIMP is a free-to-download program that will let you add color to your drawings...I say this because...the more you know, the better off you'll be.

  2. well I say you've got some pretty good skill there, i think you could most likely make it, just make a short comicbook, and send it to a company. =] you're really good!
