I would love 2 run track in college but it would also be extreamly helpful if i got a scholarship. My events are the hurdles and relays. My fastest 55m HH time was 8.3 sec, 110m HH-15.10, 300M HH-45.50, 400m IH-59.13. I ran a 23.80 in the 4x200m relay and 52.66 in the 4x400m relay. My fastest 300m time is a 38.10. I've been running track for three years and got a box full of medals. Iwas league and section champ in the 55m HH and the 110m HH. I went to the New York State meet when i was a freshman and sophmore. I got into the state final for the 110m HH when i was a sophmore, the only one in the final, and placed 7th, but thata was because i messed up my blocks since i just learned how 2 use them and im positive that i would of placed in the top 5. I also came in 2nd in the county meet when i was a sophmore. I have gotten varsity letters and i think i may be team captain this year plus i have a pretty good shot at going back to the state meet again. With that, what are my chances?

  1. I agree with the earlier response.  Some division 2 and 3 schools give scholarships just for participating.  However, the cost of attending the schools can be very expensive...

  2. Know that most track scholarships are partial scholarships. To start getting noticed by some colleges:

110H - 14.50 (Fully automated timing, no hand timing)

    300H - Around 40.0

200 - 22.50 (open time, not from relay)

    400 - 49.9 (open time)

That will get you on the radar..

NCAA Division 1 & 2 men's programs get about 12 scholarships a year, not a lot of people get full rides. Division 3 doesn't offer athletic scholarships. To get a full ride somewhere you'll need to be very competitive, or go to a very small, weak program/school.

I went to a competitive Division 2 university.. NONE of the incoming freshman in my class got a full-ride and these were the times we had in high school...

    100 - 10.5, 200 - 21.4

    100 - 10.8, 200 - 21.9, 400 - 49.5

    200 - 21.7, 400 - 47.4

    200 - 22.8, 400 - 49.5, 800 - 1:58

    400 - 48.0, 800 - 1:55

    110H - 14.1, 300H - 38.5, 400 - 49.2

    110H - 14.25, 300H - 38.8

And that's just what I remember off the top of my head, we probably had a class of around 20, all running good times.

Your 110H is your best event. I would focus on improving there first. If you can run a good 400 (under 50) a college will want you for their 4x4 team. Good luck.
