I am starting my 4th year of a B.Sc degree at the University of Manitoba... My GPA is around 3.15/4.5 which is around 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.. and I am going to work very hard to try and raise it in my final year. I am interested in doing the Diploma of Biotechnology and Genomics at Concordia University but I wonder if anyone of you know what are my odds of getting in? The minimum requirement for this program is a B.Sc degree with a 3.0 GPA?

Does anyone know if it is a competitive university? and in general whats it reputation?

  1. I graduated from there many years ago without being formally accepted for over a year. I applied after the deadline for the CompSci pgm which was really hard to get into. I convinced  them I was serious, and they let me register as a parttime night student with an overload (which meant I was able to take 6 courses a term). After 1 term, they accepted me into the Marketing undergraduate pgm but I kept taking common courses with the BCompSci (business option) pgm. So for all practical purposes, I was following the BCS program but wasn't officially able to graduate in it. (I wasn't given credit for these courses until I was actually in the BCS pgm so I went "overnight" from about 45 credits to 75 credits).  I was finally allowed to "transfer" to the BCS undergraduate pgm for my final year and the rest as they say is history. (It seemed that transferring from one program to another rather than coming in off the street so to speak was a lot easier for the administration people to make happen. So, I'd say that if you want it as badly as I did,you should be ok. But do your homework on what's possible "curriculum-wise" so when they try to tell you why something's impossible you can counter with "Oh I completely understand. ..but what if I ....." Persistance and making a friend or two in the admissions office will pay off. Good luck.
