I was told that to get into a career in law enforcement you have to have good credit because they do a background check on credit and all, what are my chances if i have no credit at all. and I'm 25 next month. But im also in the Army National Guard as an MP- (military police) does that help at all?

  1. Bad credit disqualifies you, because it shows a lack of responsibility, and could make you subject to temptation.

No credit is not going to be a problem, as there is nothing negative about it.

As far as military service, Federal law allows employers to give veterans preference points, so you will have an advantage.

  2. No credit is far better than bad credit as far as the background investigation is concerned.  Also, your military experience will definitely help and can replace the college education requirements if the department requires them.

  3. Good credit is simply the absence of bad credit.  Bad credit keeps you out.  No credit is also not bad credit, shouldn't be a problem.
