Question:

What are my chances of transferring into an ivy league engineering school?

I got into the honors program at Baruch college. At the time of applications, I did not know what I wanted to major in. Over the months I've come to realize I want to do engineering. What are my chances of getting in as a transfer student to UPenn, Columbia or Cornell engineering. My GPA was 97.25 and my SAT was 2000. I also did 300+ hours of volunteer work. I have all the core engineering courses for those schools down because I got fives in AP Physics, Chem and Calc BC. My chances? and any other piece of advice you have.

  1. First, don't assume any ivy will accept AP classes for key engineering prereqs, it's unlikely. Most ivies give little credit for any APs, much less for the important fundamentals for an engineering major.

Your SAT score is an issue. Are you planning to retake? It would not have gotten you into an ivy as a freshman so it's doubtful it would as a transfer. They will want to see at least a 750 math score and a 750 plus on the SATII math 2.

Hopefully you have a near 4.0 at Baruch with some tough math and science classes. If not, stay a second year and prove yourself in those for any real chance.
