What are my independent and dependent variables?

i am doing an experiment where i read a list of numbers to people and then they have to cite those numbers back in order to the best of their ability

what are the independent and dependent variables??? i have absolutely no idea

An independent variable is something that the experimenter changes.  The dependent variable is what you are measuring.  I need more info.  Are you choosing people according to their age? height? weight?  What are you going to compare how well they can repeat the numbers back versus what?

How many numbers they repeat back correctly would be the dependent variable.
