What are my old nickel coins made out of?

heard they were silver but I also heard they are made out of nickel.

I have a 1957, two 1964’s, one 1948, one 1947, one 1939 and one 1954.

  1. the ones from 1948, 1947,and 1939 do contain a small amount of silver in their content. The other's are made out of, well, nickel.


  2. The ones you have are mainly copper.  There are some nickels that have silver but that was World War 2 era nickels.

  3. Mostly nickel, alloyed with copper.
