  1. If halls are full contact student accommodation who can put you in touch with private landlords

Student Services will have all the info you need

  2. Most areas near and around colleges have apartments that cater to college students you can call a local realtor or look in the community bulletin board some times advertisements are placed for apt. rentals or to share an apt.  also log on to the town and look up the local news paper ex: New York city Post or News day and look on the classified adds.  Good Luck !

  3. It is always best to get to know the community where you're attending college, and find out if they have #1 apartments near campus, #2 an apartment resource company to assist you in finding a place, and # 3 a safe community near the college. If you do not have relatives, then you must search for apartment resource assistance immediately!

  4. If commuting is not an option, off campus housing is the only way to go.  Look for cheap apts, or people needing roommates.  Check the student newspaper or local paper for listings.

  5. The college will have a student housing office. You should call them to discuss your situation.

Confirm that they still have no housing available. Ask them for options.

Most housing offices will have lists of apartments available, student apartment shares, etc. They can also tell you which newpapers to look in to find student apartment shares. Depending on where the college is located, there may also be private residence halls that are near the college, but not run by it, where you can rent a student room.

In some cases, you can even get on the waiting list for the dorms on campus, and while you wait for a spot, stay in a student hostel or equivalent.

There will be options, but call the housing office quickly.
