What are my options for taking my holiday money abroad?

I dont have a credit card- and dont really want to pay everytime i access my money from America (im from Britain) what are the ways to take my money??

Has anyone used one of those pre-loaded visa card things that only allow you to spend what you have?

I dont want to get in debt!

Hello,  i use a Post office, pre loaded DEBIT VISA CARD,  its safe, you do not need a PO account to get one, it can be used anywhere there is a hole in the wall cash machine,here or abroad, including the USA, Also most big stores and hotels will take it, plus car hire firms will accept. happy travels.


  2. If you have a bank account, then ask them if you can open a new account with a debit card, you can then put how much money you want to take with you, in to the new account and you can only spend the money that is in that account, all banks should let you do this.

  3. travellers cheques are a good option, you can get several checks with different amounts and then cash them in when you need. They will stop you getting in debt AND theres the added security bonus.
