  1. You should have signed the renters agreement. If you ask your landlord, you should be able to get a copy.

  2. Check the Housing and Urban Development website for your state, or search for "renters and landlords right for _____ state" as a keyword search. Look for the link that takes you to your states website.

  3. Depends on what you signed on the rental agreement. Also depends on what state you live in. Some things that are automatic; electrical, plumbing and  building integrity (holes in ceiling/floor/walls, mold) and insect/rodent extermination. These should all be taken care of by the owner.

As far as the month to month, I believe the owner must give you 60 days to move out, but again, I would check your agreement and local laws.

  4. Google "Landlord/tenant rights" for your state.

  5. Your local library might have a book on tenant's rights in your state - check with them.

  6. state laws

  7. Your rights are determined by state statute in the absence of a written lease.  Since you didn't indicate where you live, I can't tell you what rights your state's statutes provide.

  8. Look up your state attorney general web site it will have a section on landlord/tenant rights but in general under a month to month agreement any party can usually terminate the lease agreement without cause with a proper full month notice
