Question:

What are my rights as a British person in the EU?

Please help me to settle an arguement...I am a UK passport holder and want to know which countries of the EU I am entitled to work in? I believe that countries such as Slovenia and Hungary I would not be able to just go and work in (not that I would want to anyway, but do you get my point?).

I simply want to know which country members can work where?

I heard that people from the eastern European countries have less rights as EU member countries is this true?

All replies appreciated.

  1. Yes you are correct, that states in the last wave of membership, are not equal. YET. But they will be. You are entitled to live and work in any EU member state. Currently, there is a cap on movement from some new members, intended to prevent an initial feared "flood" of immigrants from those countries. These caps cannot be permanent.

In any case, some of the countries affected by these caps are not likely to lose their population to the UK - someone in a country like Bulgaria is far more likely to go to Spain, since their langauges are quite closely related.
