I have just had a 6 monthly inspection from the estate agent re our rental property. We have been here for 2 years. The estate agent expressed her opinion that the house was not clean, lots of work needs to be doen by us as tenants, eg lawns mowed, carpet steam cleaned. She said that the owner would be appalled. I am worried we will be kicked out/given notice. Surely we have some rights? Does anyone Know cheers.

  1. Those all sound like things that as a tennt you need to take care of. I would assume that you will be given a time line to make corrections before you'd be evicted.

  2. We have recently had some issues with our landlord and contacted our local council about them. They have been really supportive in making everyone aware of their rights and roles. I suggest giving that a try.

  3. .  There is a point when all renters realize that it is time for them to buy a house.  No one will ever show up and tell you to clean or leave the house.  Right now you are in a privately owned property and you have to conform to the owner's rules.  You would not have to clean carpets but the owner will get a fine from the city if the lawn is not mowed.
