What are newborns dreaming about?

My son has dreamed since day one. Sometimes he smiles and coos, sometimes he cries out and looks scared and upset. He is now 5 weeks old and smiles and literally laughs out loud while he is sleeping. I am mesmerized by watching him while he is dreaming! It is too cute. His eyes open about half way and roll all around, and he smiles big gummy smiles. It's amazing. Anyone else love watching their little ones dream? What do you think they are dreaming about? My son sucks on nothing when he dreams so I always joke and say he is dreaming about mealtime!

I love watching my baby dream!!  I think my son dreams of petting the kitty, eating, Wilbur the dancing cow, green grass, grandma and his stuffed money.  When he gives a frown while sleeping I assume is he dreaming of democrats, high gas prices and the mean lady at Toys R Us. :)

  4. I always say it's the angels talking to them!!  lol!  I kind of always thought that when they are smiling like that they are dreaming about their mom and her voice and smell!!  (But maybe I just like to think thats what he's dreaming about!)  Great question!  Very insightful!!
