  2. What do you mean by "ruled?" There are several Asian and European countries that still have monarchs, but I don't think any of them do anything besides pretend to be important.  The parliaments in those countries are responsible for running the government.

  3. Modern day monarchy countries:

The United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) - Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom

Denmark - Margrethe II of Denmark

Sweden - Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden

Thailand - Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand

Spain - Juan Carlos I of Spain

Netherlands - Beatrix the Kingdom of the Netherlands

Liechtenstein - Hans-Adam II, Prince of Liechtenstein

Belgium - Albert II of the Belgians

Japan - Akihito, Emperor of Japan

Norway - Harald V of Norway

Luxembourg - Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg

Monaco - Albert II, Prince of Monaco

Most modern day monarchs do not "rule" their country with unlimited powers. They only act as "Head of State" in each of their own nations, with very limited powers. One of the most important roles of the modern head of state is being a living national symbol of the state; in monarchies this extends to the sovereign being a symbol of the unbroken continuity of the state.

In many countries, official portraits of the head of state can be found in government offices, courts of law, even airports, libraries, and other public buildings. The idea, sometimes regulated by law, is to use these portraits to make the public aware of the symbolic connection to the government, a practice that dates back to medieval times.

  4. Nepal

  5. I,m sure glad we don't have kings and queens in the United States!

  6. Denmark, Japan, England, Leichenstein, Monacco.  The list goes on, this is just a couple.

  7. The United Kingdom,Japan,Monaco,

    Liechtenstein,Spain,

    Sweden,Norway,Holland, Luxembourg...

There are also some African monarchies as well, but there are Muslims living there. Some Polynesian countries like Tuvalu and Tonga, some Asian countries like Nepal and Cambodia, some Caribbean countries like the Bahamas and Belize,Antigua and Barbuda, and Barbados have monarchies as well.

  8. No European country is ruled by a king or queen, although some have them in the government.  Off the top of my head, I can't think of which ones, but there are a couple of countries in Southeast Asia that are.  (Japan isn't, they just have an Emperor figurehead like most of Europe's monarchs)
