  3. If I understand your question your asking what the basic differences are in the cycles as they are found in the environment compared to metabolism in animals and/ or plants. Most if not all important elements to life will have these cycles and those elements that play no major role in life processes will have some cycle associated with them. Even the most inert will go threw changes and cycles but this may cover huge time frames or may actually have such short cycles measures in millionths of seconds.

         The difference in environmental vs. metabolism fueled cycles is that of the chemistry and where the energy input is. Plant takes CO2 from the air and incorporates it by what is called the Calvin cycle. That CO2 may have come from your breath, part of which is done in the Krebs cycle. That is an over simplification, but those two metabolism cycles (plant and animal) are part of an overall carbon cycle in the environment which takes carbon from the air and/ or soil brings it into a plant. Now eat the plant or the animal that ate the plant and that is a pathway. Most CO2 is in the ocean and that is frequently taken into shells where it goes into limestone and then lost at least temporarily with mineralization. CO2 might end up as a plant in a marsh and then rot to muck and be covered over and for tens of thousands of years be lost, mineralized, and converted to oil and petroleum. You know the cycle from here.

         So what is one cycle as opposed to another? They are different, they  are linked, but are they all the same or different? That was a small simplified piece of carbon cycle. Nitrogen is equally complex with many paths. With the periodic chart in hand you could to a cycle for everything, from hydrogen and helium in a star (that's a cycle) to laboratory radioactive short lived elements, to your very complex carbon and nitrogen that allows us to live and talk about this all.
