  1. what specific function of oil?

    it's ability to make plastic?

    it's ability to lubricate?

    it's ability to provide energy?

    pretty magic stuff, ain't it!

not only that, it comes with a whole bunch of energy bottled up in it.

unlike most other stuff, like batteries, which have to have the energy added.

(although in some cases, just putting the proper materials together, after having expended considerable energy creating them, is sufficient.)

now, typically, energy is what's most in demand.

    coal can do that.

but has considerably worse side effects.

    natural gas can do that.

but you sure can't pour it into your gas tank.

    wood can do that.

but i expect your carburetor would object.

as for powering cars, i suspect that eventually batteries will be the mainstay, probably with some hydrogen as backup.

for general electricity, i think a combination of wind, solar, and nuclear will be the main replacement.

for other uses, i don't know.

  2. You can find out about many profitable alternatives for oil at this reference:

  3. Natural gas, coal, wind, nuclear, bio, solar. We just need to perfect one of them.

  4. There is all kinds of drilling , and in the Dallas area they found a huge supply of natural Gas. The Democrats will not allow anything that might allow something that might help. They prefer that we buy our oil from our enemy.
