  1. I'm not sure if you mean types of math BUT:

    If you are doing long distance race you want to get the splits of each 50 or 100.  So that's simple addition and subtraction.

    You can calculate the amount of strokes you take per lap and how long it takes you to complete one lap.  That will tell you if you are getting the most bang for your buck, whether or not you need to speed up stroke rate or slow down and pull harder.

    Just a few ideas


  2. Fluid dynamics, race splitting, blood lactate level computations, training volumes/workout creation, interval send offs during training, scoring, stroke rates, stroke distance all use math and are all used in swimming.
