What are our options for heating & cooling our new home?

We are building a new home, it will be in the country & we aren't sure how to heat it. Propane will be really expensive & I don't really want an outdoor woodburner. I would like to be as energy efficient as possible but we don't know our options or even where to begin. Thanks for any help.

Corn stove.  Perfect for a country setting.  If you cut a deal with local farmers for waste, and haul it yourself, you will probably have free or near free heating all year round.

You can google "corn stove" for more information.  Also check on "Pellet stove", which is basically the same thing but uses manufactured wood pellets instead of corn by-product.
