  1. In physics:

        * Subatomic particle, which may be either:

o Elementary particle, a particle of which larger particles are composed, also called a fundamental particle

o Composite particle, a bound state between several elementary particles

o Point particle, an idealized particle that does not have any volume

        * See also list of particles

  2. A particle can be many things and can mean very specific things in both chemistry and physics. How it is used colloquially, however, is just a really small bit of stuff. Ya, really vague, I know, but thats kind of it. Sometimes it can be something microscopic, some times its like a little dust particle.

For the most part, I suppose, it refers to things microscopic. Do you have context for this query?
