What are patchable DMX channels?

i was looking at a chavet lighting stage designer 24. it says it has 24 dmx channels and 96 patchable dmx channels.

That means you can add more 24's to control up to 96 channels of lighting....

You can daisy-chain them in other words.....

And that means you only buy what you need....need a 24 now?  Get it....

Need 64 later?  Get a 48 and have room to spare with your 24.....
