What are peoples opinions on people being emo/what is it like?

Im not trying to be shallow or ignorant by this. But i want to understand peoples opinions on Emo's. Some say its bad and lame and others agree with it. Are there any emo people out there who can give feedback?

I'm not emo. It looks like another group made by youth for the youth to feel special, from the old ones, and maybe to belong somewhere for a feeling of togetherness, of being understood. The new one may be anti emos or something.

I'm a scene and emo girl because it's mostly a fashion emo is also a music genre i don't label labels are for soup cans but the reason for cutting in emo is so they can feel something they know is real not like a love that got totally screwed up and don't say things like oh they have good lives they shold suck it up because some do commit suicide and things like that cause it things like teasing and i personly liek their poetry cause it's from the heart

I agree that it's lame. Just a bunch of kids who think their life really sucks when there are millions all over the world with MUCH worse lives than them....by far. They get over emotional over the smallest things. Suck it up and get over it. Welcome to life.

Emos just a label i used to be labelled a chav until i started dressing more emo and grew my hair. Although people who dress like me would label me "scene" whatever the h**l that is.. Now im like half emo half chav cos i still hang out with my chav friends lol.. Anyway what i have noticed is that im attracting more rockish girls and that i feel more confident for some reason. I dont cry about how much i hate my life or cut my wrists and that so its cool. And i dont know why i wanted to change my appearance i guess i just thought it looked cool.
