  1. I'm an Irish-American too& have my own opinions on the subject but think this should be answered by people that live in Ireland.

Any other are just speculation at best.

  2. It is my understanding that English troops have withdrawn. Although I disagree with the often violent tactics of present day IRA (Provos & RIRA both) I wonder if the Brits would have left without them? I'm just sayin'...

  3. the I.R.A. have disbanded...............

  4. Frauds.  They are abunch of Commies that support flooding Ireland with third worlders.

  5. The IRA were a terrorist organisation. Only severe nationalists support them. I agree wth the cause but killing so many innocent pople hasn't got them anywhere in 30 or so years. I don't know if we will be a 32 country again but at least now there is peace.

  6. I'm Irish. It's now in the past, thank God.  To be honest, the IRA made me feel ashamed to be Irish, made us all look like a bunch of warring thugs to the rest of the world.  unfortunately some former members (not all) who were released are now involved in organised crime.  diesel washing, money laundering etc.

  7. pre 1922 they were the irish freedom fighters

after the civil war 1922 (and the killing of michael collins) they became scum, the split in 1968 to the provisionals even deepened their depravity. there is nothing great or heroic about blowing up todlers and 12 year old boys in warrington.

  8. Blind nationalism, and religious conflicts are a shame.  Basically my ancestors are Protestant.  English blood, Scotch/Irish and regular Ireland are where my family came from.  I have no interest in either Northern Ireland being free from the UK, or not.  I like them all equally.

  9. I believe that while they do have a noble idea, their methods of achieving it are wrong. Violence is not the way forward. It is admirable that they want to 'give Ireland back to the Irish', so to speak, but not in the way they have been doing so far.
