What are pills/medicine made from?

I'm talking about the actual drug, like Tylenol, etc. I know theres many different medicines but I just wondered where the scientists get the substances to begin with? Plants?

Many drugs can just be created in labs by synthetic organic chemists.

Whatever works.  Sometimes components of medications are synthesized, from plans, animals, chemicals or a combination of things.

yeah some of plants, some of them are synthetic. Once they find out the effect for one substance then they can mix and c the effects on rats and animals to c if it works!!
