  1. I think it is from OIL or tree resins.

  2. No, plastic bags are plastic. If it were made out of gas, then it would not really be solid. Whoever told you that is an idiot.

  3. Cloe -  They can be made from natural gas which is mostly methane (CH3) or they can be made from crude oil - hence they complete for oil resources.

Chemical manufactures take the natural gas and create long chain molecules by adding together the CH3's and other chemicals to create plastics.  [When the molecules become a certain length they change from a gas to a solid]  These solid plastics are cut up into pellets called resins and are bought by bad manufactures.

Bag manufactures buy virgin or recycled specific types of plastics for various types of plastic bags.  These manufactures heat the resins and push them through a hollow die and use air to blow them up into balloons.  This cools and forms the plastic into long tubes that are then collapsed between rollers.

The flattened tubes can then have a name or other information printed on them and are then passed through other rollers that seal one end and either perforate the bags for tear off (produce bags at grocery stores) or cut them into individual bags {plastic grocery bags].

  4. Generally they are made of a blend of Linear Low Density Polyethylene and Low Density Polyethylene.  Sometimes there might be some Medium Denisty thrown in too - depending on if its a nice sturdy bag.  Ultimately though, plastics are 'cracked' from Oil as stated above.

  5. Organic polymers. High-surface catalysts are used in anabolic reactions that join multiple molecules of methane, ethylene of other gasses forming a solid long chain of repeating units

  6. A plastic bag or pouch is a type of flexible packaging made of thin, flexible, plastic film.

    Hope I helped. :)
