friends of mine do poppers at night clubs- what are they?

Amyl Nitrate. Refers to a small, usually brown bottle of solvents or the solvents themselves, which are sniffed, usually during homosexual s*x by the bottom. Amyl Nitrate boosts blood pressure, relaxing the a**s and making anal s*x more comoftable. Also known as snappers.

Poppers can be made from jalapenos. They are usually filled with a mixture of cream cheese and other cheeses with add ins like bacon or scallions and breaded then deep fried or baked. Given the news tonight I won't be eating raw hot peppers for awhile unless they are locally grown.

Amyl or butyl nitrite in a bottle, which you inhale. I've killed quite a few brain cells using "Rush" (brand name) in the past.

*EDIT:

I didn't know it was a big g*y thing until I read jman's answer! It works for straight people too and doesn't necessarily have to involve s*x at all. We used to do it just for fun. "Rush" is amyl nitrite and "Blackjack" is butyl nitrite. I'm not sure what the difference is, but I prefered "Rush". It just makes you feel happy and spacey and good.
