  3. Canker sores can be caused for many reasons:hereditary reasons, the foods you eat-especially acidicy and SOUR foods-, stress, or because you have an infection in your body.

I have found that I get a lot of them when I have sour candy like sweet tarts, so i have learned to avoid them.

    Heres what you can do:

Take your vitamins. Stay away from acidic foods, spicy foods and sour and tangy candies. Do not use toothpastes with sodium laurel solphate in them, this will iritate your mouth and leave you more susceptible to mouth sores.Try rembrandt extra gentle~

Heres some home remedies for cankers:

    Black Tea

Black tea contains tannin, an astringent with pain relief qualities. Applying a wet black tea back to canker sores can help ease the pain.

    Ice

Apply ice to canker sores to help relieve pain and swelling.

    Orabase-B

Orabase-B is an over-the-counter medication that relieves the pain of canker sores, as well as helping them to heal.

    Peroxide

Mix three parts water with one part hydrogen peroxide. Swish this solution around in your mouth for thirty seconds to one minute, then spit it out. Repeat this treatment four times a day to help kill the bacteria that cause canker sores.

    Vitamin E

Squeezing the oil from a vitamin E capsule directly onto your canker sores several times a day can help them heal faster.

    Liquid Antacid

Swishing some Mylanta or Milk of Magnesia around in your mouth can make canker sores heal much faster.

    Watch What You Eat

Certain foods can aggravate canker sores, making them hurt more and take longer to heal. avoid alcoholic beverages. In fact, avoid anything that causes your canker sores to sting or burn.

You also want to avoid foods that could damage or stab the skin of your mouth, like potato chips, tortilla chips (especially those with jagged edges), crackers, or any other foods that are crunchy or hard.

    Hope it helped.
