  1. Me, the Mum,forcing them to clean their room.

  2. The school, family, media and religion are the four agents of socialization in our culture. While I wouldn't exactly call these pressures, these things help us have a cohesive society and a national character. That being said children should be taught to be individual thinkers with respect to those things that make us a free society.

  3. There are different kinds of pressure. There can be good pressure and bad pressure. For example I am a preschool teacher, and I have a kid in my class that his Mom is really relaxed about his toilet training not trying to pressure him because she wants him to do it in his own time, understandable, however he doesn't feel enough pressure to even care to want to learn. So he is the only kid in my school who doesn't know how to take care of himself and has accidents almost everyday. He is going to Kindergarten next year and by law they can not help, wipe, or anything. He will just get sent home each time. Already children are talking when he has accidents. But since he has been at school I have put "positive pressure" on him to want to learn by rewarding him when he does go by himself. I clap I jump up and down I make a big scene that he did it!!!! Now he kind of does it but he won't do it at home.

Children need to learn there are pressures out there but we as a society I think are not teaching our kids good coping skills with pressure. You have to as a society show and teach what is appropriate ways to express emotions and how to appropriately react to these pressures. Part also is us loading our kids with too much for them to handle. Each kid is different some can handle more then others but as a society we are so quick to try to keep up with the Smith's and put are kids up to trying to keep up too. Its all too much! We need to learn that are kids want approval, and will take on more then they actually can take for that approval.
