  1. It has nothing to do with the type of motorcycle you ride, that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

When a biker is wearing "colors" it is gang insignia, usually a jacket or vest with gang identification on the back of it.

  2. Depending on the style you ride you must wear a jacket of a certain color so everyone can know who you are.  Harley  cruiser riders wear black, sport bike riders pink, j*p import cruiser  Yellow and so on. It is a thing that has been done for years and some places like bars or  cedar  point do not like motorcycle rides.

  3. "Colors" = Motorcycle gang Jacket or Vest. A lot of Rallys prohibit the wearing of Colors to keep the fighting among rival gangs to a minimum.

  4. It’s not even actually gang related. I belonged to a bike association (not a gang) and we had jackets, vests, etc. that had our association’s logo on them. At certain places we were asked not to where our “colors” so as not to start anything. So colors can actually be any crests, badges or whatever that you wear that are motorcycle related.

    Cheers!

  5. No such thing as a motorcycle gang.  There are motorcycle clubs, associations, ministries, brotherhoods, riding clubs etc but 'gang' is something that the newspapers and leo's use to create hype.

  6. OK you've gotten lot's of info so far. Some correct some incorrect.

There is a such thing as a motorcycle gang. It is more comonly referred to as an outlaw club. It's a regular motorcycle club that doesn't adhere to the rules of the governing body. Like in NC they have the NCUBA. Every club in NC has to register with the NC United Bikers Association. These are the people who interact with the government about legislature and all sorts of administrative or executive c**p. Outlaw clubs often deal with drugs, prostitution, gambling, bar fights, and are just a mess so they aren't recognized or represented by NCUBA.

Motorcycle clubs are the organized clubs that usually host events to sponsor a charity of some sort. They are members of the states governing body and follow the rules of the road and try to maintain a positive image in the community.

Riding clubs are just a bunch of guys who like to ride together. It's important to have a bond with your fellow riders so you can have a safe level of road chemistry.

Social clubs are just a bunch of people who like the motorcycle lifestyle and organize or host events catering to members of the lifestyle. Groupies so to speak who don't own or ride motorcycles. Many motorcycle clubs start out as social clubs and upgrade their classification as they meet the qualifications.

In any event, each type of organization has a unique name and motto. Members have the insignia embroidered on their riding jacket to advertise or show off their club. These embroidered jackets are their colors. Wearing your colors to an event will sometimes get you discounted admission, a free drink, or some other insignificant perk.

Street gangs distinguish each other by wearing a certain color. Bloods wear red, crips wear blue, LKs wear yellow and black. That imagery has been associated with the motorcycle scene incorrectly. It has nothing to do with fighting or any gang activity.

Sorry to write you a full length book here but i wanted you to have the correct understanding of the motorcycle community.

  7. I would guess that it would have something to do with motorcycle gang colors & that type of thing...
