What are "official secrets"?

The Tasmanian Police Commissioner is accused of disclosing them.

I thought that it was "rude" to keep secrets so I am wondering how they can get away with doing it "officially"!

  1. An official secret is a government or police document that cannot be accessed under the Freedom of Information Acts (FoI). They can potentially lead to the harm or bias of citizens.

    Eg/ Court proceedings and witness protection.
